Privacy Notice

This notice explains what information the website collects, how we use it and the choices and rights available to you.

Last updated: 7 October 2026

01

Who is responsible

Abrasim is the South African business that determines why and how personal information is processed through this public website.

Send privacy, correction, deletion or objection requests to info@abrasim.co.za. Our legal-entity, address and Information Officer details still require confirmation. We will publish verified details on the access-to-information page.

02

Information we collect

When you send an enquiry, we may collect your name, work email, organisation, role and organisation size. We also collect the situation you select and the information you include in your message.

Our hosting and security providers may also process limited technical information needed to deliver and protect the website, such as request, device and network information. Analytics data is collected only when production analytics is explicitly enabled.

03

Why we use it

We use personal information to review and respond to enquiries and communicate about the work you request. We also use it to operate, secure and improve the website and meet applicable legal or regulatory obligations.

We process personal information only where there is an appropriate lawful basis under applicable data-protection law, including where processing is needed to respond to your request, where consent has been provided, or where legitimate interests or legal obligations apply.

Supplying information through the project-enquiry form is voluntary. If the required contact and problem information is not supplied, Abrasim may be unable to assess or respond to the enquiry.

04

POPIA and the governing framework

Abrasim handles personal information with reference to South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). POPIA establishes conditions for lawful processing, data-subject rights and responsibilities concerning security, retention, operators and cross-border processing.

This notice describes the website's current information flows; it is not a certificate of legal compliance or a substitute for a qualified assessment of Abrasim's wider business obligations.

05

Service providers and international processing

Abrasim uses specialist service providers to operate the website. Its hosting provider supplies website infrastructure and authenticated email delivery for project enquiries. Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics may be used for measurement once production analytics and the appropriate consent controls are enabled.

Some providers may process information in countries outside South Africa. Where this occurs, Abrasim will take reasonable steps to use providers and safeguards appropriate to the information and the applicable legal requirements.

06

Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, for an ongoing business relationship, or where retention is required by law. Information that is no longer required should be deleted, de-identified or otherwise disposed of appropriately.

07

Your choices and rights

You may ask Abrasim to provide access to personal information we hold about you, correct information that is inaccurate, delete information where appropriate, or consider an objection to particular processing. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) if you believe your personal information has been processed unlawfully.

Requests for other Abrasim records that are required to exercise or protect a right can be made through the PAIA access route →.

08

Security

Abrasim uses reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access or disclosure. No internet service can promise absolute security, so controls are reviewed as the website and its data flows evolve.

If you believe personal information provided to Abrasim has been exposed or misused, email info@abrasim.co.za with the subject “Privacy or security incident”. Do not include sensitive information that is not needed to identify and assess the concern.

09

Cookies and analytics

The site uses essential browser and platform technologies required for delivery, security and recording your analytics choice. The first-party abrasim_measurement_consent preference cookie records “granted” or “denied” for up to 180 days so the site can respect that choice.

Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics stay blocked unless you select “Accept analytics”. If you accept, measurement may include the page you visit, referring host, interactions, device or browser information and a confirmed enquiry event. We exclude names, email addresses, organisation names, roles and enquiry text from the analytics data layer. After an enquiry is successfully delivered, we may record your selected challenge and organisation-size band.

You can withdraw or change the choice at any time through “Cookie settings” in the footer. Rejecting optional analytics does not restrict access to the public website or project-enquiry form.

Privacy requests

Contact Abrasim about your information.

Email us with “Privacy request” in the subject so we can handle your message separately from a project enquiry.
